Paleozoic means ‘ancient life.’ The earliest animals on Earth appeared just before the beginning of this age in the Ediacaran era.
Mesozoic means “The Middle Life” which began about 225 million years ago and lasted some 160 million years. The Mesozoic era is subdivided into three periods: Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous period.
Cenozoic means “The Recent Life”. This era includes the last 65 million years of the Earth’s history. It is generally known as the “Age of Mammals” but with equal justice could be called the “Age of birds”, “Age of Insects”
